American director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, have been reported dead at their Los Angeles residence, media outlets say. A family spokesperson confirmed the deaths to CNN after authorities earlier said two bodies were discovered at Reiner’s home in the Brentwood neighborhood.
The Los Angeles Police Department said detectives from its Robbery-Homicide Division are treating the incident as an apparent homicide. Police have not yet publicly confirmed the identities of the deceased and said they are not actively seeking any suspects at this time.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said it responded to a medical-aid call just after 3:30 p.m. local time on Sunday and found the bodies of a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman at the scene.
Reiner, 78, first became well known as an actor on the 1970s sitcom All in the Family before building a successful directing career. His notable films include When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride and A Few Good Men.
