Former President Bill Clinton testified he had no knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex crimes, according to video released Monday by the House Oversight Committee. The sworn depositions, recorded over more than two days last week, show Clinton repeatedly saying he saw no signs of trafficking while associated with Epstein.
Clinton told lawmakers he had met Epstein in 2002 when he rode on Epstein’s private jet during the Clintons’ humanitarian work and that their association ended about a year later — years before Epstein’s 2008 guilty plea for soliciting prostitution from an underage girl. “There’s nothing that I saw when I was around him that made me realize he was trafficking women,” he said.
Hillary Clinton, who gave her deposition a day earlier, told the committee she does not recall meeting Epstein. Neither former president has been accused of wrongdoing; their depositions come amid renewed scrutiny and calls for accountability around the Epstein case and related records.
Clinton also recounted a pre‑presidential conversation with Donald Trump, saying Trump told him he had “some great times” with Epstein and that their falling out stemmed from a real estate deal. Clinton said Trump never indicated any involvement in improper conduct related to Epstein. Both Clinton and Trump have previously acknowledged past associations with Epstein and have said they saw no evidence of sex trafficking.
