Several priceless paintings were taken from the Magnani Rocca Foundation museum in Mamiano di Traversetolo, near Parma in northern Italy, police said. The raid occurred in under three minutes on the night of March 22–23, authorities confirmed.
The stolen works include Fish by Auguste Renoir, Still Life with Cherries by Paul Cézanne and Odalisque on the Terrace by Henri Matisse. Italian news agency ANSA posted photographs of the missing paintings on X.
Local reports say the suspects forced a door, removed the canvases and fled across the museum gardens. The Cultural Heritage Protection Unit of the Carabinieri said the suspects wore hoods and investigators are reviewing CCTV from the museum and nearby businesses. Officers described the suspects as likely part of a “structured and organized” gang.
The theft in Parma follows a string of high-profile museum and jewellery heists across Europe, most notably an October raid at the Louvre in Paris that netted about €88 million in jewels and other items. The Carabinieri and local police continue to investigate and are examining footage and other leads in hopes of recovering the artworks.
