Amazon is planning to build a 43-story tower, its tallest yet, in Bellevue, Washington, the company said Tuesday.
The proposed building, referred to as Bellevue 600, would have room to accommodate thousands of employees. The property would sit on the east side of the Bellevue Corporate Plaza it bought in April for $195 million, The Seattle Times reported.
The proposed building is still in its planning stages, and the details could change after input from city officials and the local community, Amazon said. It’ll have have about 1 million square feet of office space and be a maximum of 600 feet tall, according to the initial plans. The building is expected to be completed by 2024.
Amazon is also planning to work with the city of Bellevue on connecting the area’s lightrail system to the new campus and developing public spaces nearby.

The tower represents Amazon’s continued growth in Bellevue after the company has been taking a hard line on tax policies in Seattle. In February, GeekWire reported that Amazon pulled out of an expansion plan in Seattle shortly after abandoning its proposal in New York’s Long Island City amid conflict with local politicians.
