There’s a new way to make Amazon returns without waiting in line at the post office or packing up the unwanted item.
Just in time for Prime Day shopping sprees and back-to-school shopping, Kohl’s announced Monday that its more than 1,100 stores nationwide now accept Amazon returns.
Kohl’s CEO Michelle Gass called the nationwide rollout of the Amazon Returns program the Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin-based retailer’s “single biggest initiative of the year.”
“We’re thrilled to offer this first-of-its-kind service to Amazon and Kohl’s customers,” Gass said in a statement to USA TODAY. “We believe customers will appreciate this easy and convenient new service, bringing them to our stores more often and deepening customer loyalty for both Amazon and Kohl’s.”
Kohl’s announced in April the returns program would expand this summer after piloting it in 100 stores in Chicago, Los Angeles and Milwaukee markets.

Gass said the priority is to drive customer traffic and millions are expected to benefit from the new service.
New York-based Earnest Research found Chicago stores in the pilot appeared to benefit significantly from the partnership with Seattle-based Amazon.
For all of 2018, the Chicago stores posted year-over-year revenue gains totaling 8%, compared with 2% for the other Kohl’s stores, the research firm reported. The Chicago stores also saw a 9% increase in new customers compared with 1% in other Kohl’s locations, according to Earnest Research.
Amazon said in a blog post its goal is to make buying online and returning “as easy as possible and we are expanding free, convenient returns on millions of items for our customers.”
In addition to Kohl’s stores, no-box returns also are available at Amazon physical stores, select Whole Foods Market stores and nearly 4,800 UPS Store locations, according to the blog post.
