Ford Motor Co. released a preview of the 2020 model of their “pony car,” the Mustang, in January.
Ford said Wednesday that the 2020 Shelby GT500 is set to be the most powerful street legal Ford car in existence, having the projected ability to complete a quarter mile in less than 11 seconds.
The model will be available for purchase in dealerships this fall and is not yet available for pre-order.
Mike Rey, president of the Mustang Owners Club of Southeast Michigan, told the Detroit Free Press that the new model is the “ultimate Mustang.”

The first Ford Mustang, the 1965 model, debuted at the World’s Fair in April 1964. The goal was to make a model that would be an appealing option as a personal car for post World War II baby boomers.
