The most popular item on Pizza Hut’s menu is getting a reboot.
The national pizza chain revealed it is updating the recipe to its Original Pan Pizza for the first time since it was introduced in 1980.
The revamped pie will feature a new blend of cheese and sauce, and a crispier crust created with a newly engineered pan, Pizza Hut said in a statement released Tuesday.
The chain said its new recipe was part of a three-year process to perfect the updated taste of its Original Pan Pizza.
“We’ve put a lot of energy and love into refining this beloved pizza and are eager for customers to taste the unbelievable difference first-hand,” said Penny Shaheen, Pizza Hut’s senior director of culinary innovation and strategy, in a statement.
Consumers can order the updated Original Pan Pizza starting now at all stores nationwide, available via delivery, carryout or dine-in.
Earlier this year, Pizza Hut revealed it was expanding a test of its beer-delivery service to 300 stores in seven states: Arizona, California, Florida, Iowa, Nebraska, North Carolina and Ohio. The restaurant chain said it was planning to offer beer delivery to 1,000 stores by this summer.
