Live from New York, it’s Tesla’s competitors trying to steal the show from Elon Musk.Three automakers aired electric vehicle commercials in the first half-hour of the “Saturday Night Live” episode hosted by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.Lucid Motors, Ford and Volkswagen showcased electric vehicles in advertisements in a bid to grab a portion of the spotlight on a night featuring the billionaire widely credited with leading an EV revolution.Lucid, a startup that hasn’t yet sold any vehicles, advertised the Lucid Air, an ultra-luxury vehicle that will have battery range of more than 500 miles.Luxury EV: Lucid Motors reveals Lucid Air luxury electric car with 517-mile range aimed at TeslaWelcome to the ‘golden age’ of EVs: Are electric vehicles poised to kill the gasoline engine car?Ford showed the Mustang Mach-E, an electric crossover version of its famed pony car. And Volkswagen showed off the VW ID.4, its first electric SUV.If Tesla advertises anything, that would be a first.
