July is primed to be a month full of freebies and deals.

Independence Day kicks things off with patriotic specials and discounts for active and retired military.

Other deal days this month include: National Fried Chicken Day (July 6), National French Fry Day (July 13), National Ice Cream Day (July 21),  National Tequila Day (July 24), National Lasagna Day (July 29), National Cheesecake Day (July 30) and National Avocado Day (July 31).

Plus, Chick-fil-A’s popular Cow Appreciation Day returns July 9 with a chance to get free chicken for dressing up like a cow.

Amazon Prime Day will be a full 48 hours this year, running from July 15 to 16and other retailers including Target, Walmart and eBay will have competing sales.

Here are some of the big days for free food and discounts along with ongoing specials, available at participating stores . To be on the safe side, always check with your closest location before heading out. Also, some will require you to have a restaurant’s app or be signed up for emails.

Bookmark this page because it’ll be updated frequently with more specials. Businesses with 20 or more locations can submit meal deals here.

July 1-14: Wendy’s freebie

This Wendy’s deal started on the first day of summer and continues through Sunday, July 14. Get a free half-size Berry Burst Salad with any purchase using the Wendy’s mobile app. Download the app at www.wendys.com or at app stores.

July 1: McAlister’s Free Tumbler Day

On Monday, July 1, McAlister’s Deli holds Free Tumbler Day where the first 20 guests in line at participating locations will get a free 32-ounce reusable tea tumbler.

No purchase is necessary and available while supplies last. Tumblers will also be available for purchase beginning on Monday. Learn more on the Facebook event page.

July 4: Patriotic food specials

Many of these items are available before the holiday Thursday while supplies last.

Bruegger’s Bagels: Get Red, White and Blue bagels Wednesday and Thursday, while supplies last. Pre-orders also will be accepted through Tuesday.

Einstein Bros. Bagels: Red, white and blue bagels can be pre-ordered by the half-dozen or baker’s dozen and are available Tuesday through Thursday at locations while supplies last.

Krispy Kreme: Through Thursday, Krispy Kreme has the Let Freedom Ring collection of patriotic doughnuts with the Freedom Ring, Sprinkled Ring and Firework Ring.

Smokey Bones: Through Sunday, July 7, the chain has the Star-Spangled Shake for $7.50. The patriotic shake includes a vanilla milkshake with red, white and blue sprinkles, whipped cream, a popsicle and a lollipop. There’s an option to add a shot of vodka, bourbon, rum or Kahlua for a boozy milkshake.

Tim Hortons: For a limited time, get new patriotic Fireworks Donuts that are topped with popping candy.

July 4: Military discounts and free food

More deals will be added shortly. Here’s how businesses honored military and veterans in 2018 along with some of the confirmed 2019 deals.

Duffy’s Sports Grill: Duffy’s offers a 40% discount on food purchases to all active duty military, firefighters, and police officers in uniform, all day, every day.

Houlihan’s Restaurant + Bar: The chain offers an ongoing military discount. With a military ID, active military members get 15% off food.

Luna Grill: With a valid ID or uniform, active and retired military service members and their spouses get 10% off purchases, excluding alcohol. This is an ongoing discount.

Logan’s Roadhouse: From 3-6 p.m. Thursday, veterans and active military get a free American Roadhouse Meal. This offer is not available in North Carolina, South Carolina or the Augusta, Georgia location.

Ninety Nine Restaurant & Pub: Veterans and active-duty military get a free Standout Starter appetizer Thursday with the purchase of any entrée and with proof of service. 

July 4: Other Independence Day deals

Many offers last longer than Thursday and more deals will be added shortly.

Bite Squad and Waitr: The on-demand restaurant delivery apps are cutting the delivery fee in half from Thursday to Sunday with promo code “5050” when placing an order on the delivery apps or online at www.waitrapp.com or www.bitesquad.com.

Boston Market: Through Friday, get a Family Meal for $34.99, which includes one whole chicken, half rack of ribs, three sides, four pieces of cornbread and one apple pie.

The Brass Tap: Get $4 select draft beers Thursday.

The Cheesecake Factory: From Wednesday through Sunday, get a free slice of Oreo Dream Extreme Cheesecake with DoorDash orders of $17.76 or more with promo code “OREO” at checkout.

Chili’s: On Thursday and Friday, get $4 large domestic beers, including Coors Lite, Miller Light and Bud Light.

Cicis: With the purchase of a large drink Thursday, get a $4 Unlimited Pizza Buffet with a coupon.

DoorDash: On Thursday, current DoorDash customers can get free delivery on orders $15 or more at select restaurants with the code FREEDOMRINGS. DashPass subscribers can get $5 off orders with subtotals of $12 or more with code FIREWORKS.

Duffy’s Sports Grill: Get Duffy’s half-rack RibFix with one side for $9.95 Thursday.

El Pollo Loco: Loco Rewards members get double points Thursday when they purchase the new $20 Chicken & Cheesy Quesadilla Family Dinner. The dinner includes eight pieces of chicken, two large sides, tortillas or chips and six quesadilla slices.

Flower Child: Get 25% off the entire bill Thursday. 

Houlihan’s Restaurant + Bar: From Wednesday through Sunday, order any entree and choose one free item from Land of the Free menu when dining in. There’s also a $5 special Murica drink topped with a frozen pop.

Hungry Howie’s: From Wednesday through Sunday,  get a medium one-topping pizza for 4 cents with the purchase of a large pizza at regular price. Thus offer is for carry-out orders made online, in-store and by phone.

Hurricane Grill & Wings: Thursday through Sunday, get 20% off Party Platters with a minimum $50 order.

Jersey Mike’s: Email club members can buy two Giant subs and get the third for $2.99 with a coupon July 2-5. Sign up for the email club at www.jerseymikes.com/email-club.

Main Event: From Thursday through Sunday, get the entertainment center’s Summer FUNpass, starting at $14.95 per person.

Miguel’s Jr.: Get the chain’s Original Burrito for $4 Thursday.

Mountain Mike’s Pizza: Get $8 off any two large pizzas Thursday with promo code 473867.

Nestlé Toll House Café by Chip: Get a free scoop of ice cream when you buy a scoop Thursday.

O’Charley’s: From Thursday through Sunday, the restaurant has two specials: Get the Family Chicken Tenders Dinner with 20 tenders, eight sides and three dipping sauces for $25 or the Ribs Picnic Pack with four portions of ribs, four sides and a whole pie for $40.

Pollo Tropical: From Thursday through Tuesday, July 9, get the Classic Chicken or Chipotle Chicken Sandwich, fries and a drink for $3.99.

Sonny’s BBQ: From Thursday through Sunday, get a meal deal for four with a whole chicken, pound of pulled or sliced pork, three pint-sized Sidekicks and choice of bread for $29.99.

TGI Fridays: On Thursday, get a half rack of Big Ribs for $7.99 or a full rack for $12.99. Restaurants also have the Barbados Rum Punch cocktail for $5.

White Castle: From Thursday through Sunday, get $5 off a Crave Case ordered through delivery partners UberEats, GrubHub or DoorDash with a coupon that will be sent out Wednesday. Sign up for offers at www.whitecastle.com.

July 5-9: Chipotle deal

Get free delivery on all orders $10 or more with the Chipotle app and Chipotle.com Friday through Tuesday, July 9 in celebration of the upcoming matches in a particular international soccer tournament

Chipotle also is offering the favorite orders of soccer stars Julie Ertz, Lindsey Horan and Rose Lavelle exclusively online and in the Chipotle app for a limited time.

July 6: National Fried Chicken Day

More deals will be added shortly but here are a few that have been confirmed.

Cracker Barrel: The chain recently introduced its Southern Fried Chicken Picnic Box, which is designed to serve a family of four and includes 12 pieces of the Southern Fried Chicken, a choice of two country sides and buttermilk biscuits for $33.99.

Dog Haus: For National Fried Chicken Day Saturday, get the “Bad Mutha Clucka” for $5. Dine-in only and no additions or substitutions.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen: For a limited time, Popeyes has the $10 Bigger Box, which comes with four pieces of bone-in chicken or six tenders with two regular sides, two biscuits and two apple pies. Also for a limited time, get $5 Parmesan Ranch Double Dippers, which include six boneless wings, choice of one side, a biscuit and dual-dipping side of Parmesan Ranch.

Slim Chickens: On Saturday, get a $5.99 Chick’s Meal. This deal is available for dine-in, drive-thru, online ordering, app and pick-up. It’s not valid with delivery orders and there’s a limit of one per person.

July 9: Chick-fil-A Cow Appreciation Day

Tuesday, July 9 is Chick-fil-A’s 15th annual Cow Appreciation Day, which the chicken chain describes as its largest single-day customer appreciation event and a day to celebrate the company’s “Eat Mor Chikin” cows.

July 9: Wienerschnitzel’s anniversary

Wienerschnitzel, which says it’s the world’s largest hot dog chain and home of America’s favorite chili dog, is celebrating its 58th anniversary Tuesday, July 9 with 58-cent hot dogs. The deal is available from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

July 11: 7-Eleven Day

7-Eleven hasn’t yet announced details for this year’s deal, but in the past America’s largest convenience store chain has celebrated its birthday – which it has dubbed Free Slurpee Day and 7-Eleven Day – by giving away free Slurpees.

July 11: Sonic ice cream cookie deal

July 13-20: Target’s Teacher Prep Event

For the second year, Target is offering teachers a weeklong 15% discount on select items starting Sunday, July 13 and continuing through July 20.

This dine-in only deal is limited to one per person and while supplies last. A short stack usually costs $5.79.

July 17: National Hot Dog Day

July 18: McAlister’s Free Tea Day
