As extreme weather events — including wildfires, floods and tornadoes — grow more frequent and severe, rising insurance costs are pushing millions of homeowners to forgo or reduce coverage. Without adequate home insurance, families and whole communities face serious financial exposure when disaster strikes.
NPR wants to hear from you. Tell us about your experiences with home insurance companies, how you’re deciding what coverage to buy or drop as premiums climb, and how insurance (or the lack of it) has affected your recovery after a disaster.
Your submission will be handled under NPR’s general Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. As the Privacy Policy explains, there may be circumstances in which legal exemptions for journalistic activities or freedom of expression could override privacy rights you might otherwise expect. We will not use your submission in our reporting until we have contacted you and obtained your consent to publish any details.
