Colombian pop star Shakira has posted a one-minute clip teasing a new song she calls “Dai Dai,” which she says is the FIFA World Cup Official Song 2026. The short video was filmed on the pitch at Rio de Janeiro’s iconic Maracanã Stadium, where she drew huge crowds for a free concert last weekend.
In the clip Shakira holds the Trionda, the official World Cup match ball, and sings a verse in English while Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy harmonizes alongside her. The verse in the clip is:
Knew from the day you were born
Here in this place, you belong
You’ve been this brave all along
What broke you once made you strong.
She is accompanied by dancers wearing the colors of national teams taking part in the tournament. The chorus repeats a rallying refrain — “Dai, dai, we go, dale, ale, let’s go.” “Dai” appears to echo the Italian for “let’s go,” while “dale/ale” is a Spanish expression meaning roughly “come on” or “we can do it.”
The short preview, which was also shared on the FIFA World Cup account, closes with the message “We’re ready!” The full song is scheduled for official release on May 14.
Shakira previously provided the official track for the 2010 World Cup with “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” and has performed at World Cup finals in 2006 and 2014. The 2026 tournament opens on June 11, 2026, when Mexico meets South Africa at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
