A United Airlines flight safely returned to Dulles International Airport in Virginia Saturday after experiencing an engine failure shortly after takeoff, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement. The Boeing 777-200ER was bound for Tokyo when the engine lost power, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said on X. A piece of the engine cowling separated and ignited, starting a small brushfire on the ground, he added. The flight had 275 passengers and 15 crew members; Duffy said there were no reported injuries. The FAA will investigate the incident.
