American director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, have been found dead at their Los Angeles home, media reports say. A family spokesperson confirmed the deaths, CNN reported, after authorities earlier said two bodies were discovered at Reiner’s residence in the upscale Brentwood neighborhood.
The Los Angeles Police Department said detectives from the Robbery-Homicide Division are investigating the deaths as an “apparent homicide.” Police have not yet publicly confirmed the identities of the bodies and are not actively seeking any suspects at this time.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said it responded to a medical-aid call just after 3:30 p.m. local time on Sunday and found the bodies of a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman.
Reiner, 78, rose to prominence as an actor on the 1970s sitcom All in the Family before establishing a career as a director. His notable films include When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride and A Few Good Men.
