A court in Nigeria's capital Abuja on Friday convicted nearly 400 terrorism suspects in a mass trial that took place over four days. Many of those convicted received prison terms of up to 20 years after appearing before a panel of 10 judges.

UK Pauses Chagos Handover After US Objection

The British government said Saturday it has paused its plans to hand over the Chagos Islands to Mauritius following criticism from US President Donald Trump. The small collection of islands in the Indian Ocean is home to a military base used by both the UK and US.

Lufthansa pilots' union announces two-day strike

Lufthansa pilots are set to strike next week on Monday and Tuesday, the pilot's trade union announced on Saturday. Lufthansa Cargo, Lufthansa Cityline and Eurowings are all included in the call to down tools. The work stoppage is expected to run from 12:01 am on Monday (22:01 UTC on Sunday) through to 23:59 pm on Tuesday, the union said.
