Effortless Multitasking: Android 17 Introduces App Bubbles
Android 17 enhances user experience with app bubbles, enabling easy access to multiple applications on the screen.
The latest update for Android, version 17, brings a new feature that transforms the user experience: app bubbles. This functionality allows users to keep their most-used applications floating on the screen for quick access, streamlining multitasking.
What Are App Bubbles?
Previously, the bubble feature was limited to text messaging apps, letting users maintain ongoing conversations in an easily accessible format. With the introduction of app bubbles, this capability is significantly expanded, allowing you to bubble up to five apps at once.
How to Use App Bubbles on a Pixel Device
Currently, the app bubble feature is exclusive to Google Pixel, but plans are in place to expand it to more devices in the future. Here's how to enable and use app bubbles on your Pixel:
- Locate Your App: Go to your home screen or app drawer and find the app you want to bubble.
- Long-Press the Icon: Press and hold the app icon until a menu appears.
- Select Bubble: From the options given, tap on the 'Bubble' selection.
- Position the Floating Icon: The app will shrink to a bubble icon which you can position along the left or right side of the screen. Multiple apps can be bubbled, but note that they must stay together when moving.
Bubble Functionality on Samsung Galaxy Devices
Samsung users aren't left out, as the company offers a similar function called Smart Pop-Up View. This feature allows notifications from selected apps to appear while you’re using another application. Here’s how to activate it:
- Access Settings: Open your settings app, then navigate to Notification Settings.
- Go to Advanced Settings: Tap on 'Advanced settings' and then select 'Floating Notifications.'
- Enable Smart Pop-Up View: Choose 'Smart Pop-Up View' and select the apps you want to receive notifications from.
The Benefits of App Bubbles
This new feature is designed to enhance productivity by ensuring the apps you frequently use are never more than a click away. The app bubbles float above other windows, which means you can quickly jump back to an important task without unnecessary navigation.
As the app bubble feature becomes more widely available, users across different device brands will benefit from a more efficient and fluid multitasking experience. For now, Pixel owners can enjoy this innovative addition to their smartphones and make their app usage smoother and more productive.
